The last time I tried banshee was a long time ago, back on Ubuntu 6.06, which feels like an eternity ago. Now that the long anticipated 1.0 release is out the door, and I've sat back and given it some time to stabalize, I decided to give it a try.
To be quite honest, however, I can't see why people would willingly use this. As soon as I imported my library into banshee it slowed down quite a bit, and I don't have much music (about 5 gigabytes last I checked). The UI wasn't very responsive, especially the album list, which strikes me as odd because Quod Libet did a similar thing and it worked wonderfully.
Most annoying of all, however, was the horribly broken playlists. I couldn't order songs in playlists *at all*, instead Banshee just sorted them like I was browsing through them in the library view. I'm sorry, isn't the point of a playlist to organize music in a specifc order? So please, tell me how they had the *gall* to release a 1.0 with broken playlists?
