Week of KDE4: Can't take it anymore

I tried, I really did, but there's only so much a man can take. I'm tired of feeling like I'm on a 1024x768 monitor again because KDE apps have a knack for taking up more screen estate than you would think humanly possible. And without my finely tuned compiz setup I'm finding it hard to organize my workflow, yes, that's right, I actually use compiz as a window manager instead of eyecandy. Too bad KWM4 doesn't get how to do that.

Week of KDE4: Day 3

Today there's not much to say, except that I actually had to restart X because my xorg process was using 150MB of RAM and everything started running choppier than a chef cutting up something. I realise KDE4.1 is still a baby, but com'on, there's no reason it should leak memory like this! Especially when I have a full gig and a half in my system.

Week of KDE4: Day 2

Well, what a great start I had to day 2 of my KDE4 excursion. Although it toook me longer then expected, I finally found a site that hit a brick wall when opened with Konqueror. Big suprise, I know... So, not wanting to install any apps that depend on GTK during the next two weeks (except for when I absolutely need them for my work) I installed the only other Qt-based web browser out there, Opera.

Week of KDE4: Day 1

So, my first day of KDE4 and my patience is already being tested, there's some good things about it, but mostly bad things. My primary issue for today is the bloody window list, along with the thing they dare to call a web browser, Konqueror.

2 Weeks of KDE

So, it appears that KDE 4.1 is finally out, and to top it off I haven't tried KDE 3.5 in a while. I've been a GNOME guy for a while, I'm an ex-KDE con to be honest, but I truly prefer GNOME these days to the point that I've refused to install anything that pulls in Qt or KDE libs. Now, it's time to be fair and remind myself why I don't like KDE anymore, and what I did like (and honestly still do).
